In today’s environment – we require clarity, accuracy, and concise communication with our trade partners and vendors. When there are too many different lines of communication, or “cooks in the kitchen”, we often find ourselves playing telephone where accurate information gets lost, and expectations are not met.

Rhino Residential is here to eliminate the middleman. We are a solutions-based construction company focused on facilitating a direct line of communication and expectations with our trade partners, in order to maximize returns and financial benefits. We provide clarity product and specification clarity to our trades and transparent cost data to our investment partners all while allowing trades, suppliers and investors to communicate directly with the owner for a more streamlined residential construction process. This approach allows us to commit to a long-term relationship and simplify our partnership based on mutual success.

In 2015, after each having careers in the home building industry – John and Ken began a partnership at a large national builder, bringing together a unique combination of purchasing and operations experience. From then until present day, the two of them have been involved in $787M in construction revenue. Prior to that, having been involved in the construction of thousands of homes across the nation.

At Rhino Residential, in conjunction with Watermark Companies, we want lenders and trades to understand our focus is commitment to cost, transparency, timelines, and maximum efficiency, while meeting and exceeding expectations for our internal & external customers.

Watermark has a rich history of self performance

Watermark started by self-executing hundreds of scattered site rehabs and new builds for institutional investors. As Watermark continued to grow, two ground-up multi-family projects and two single-family build-to-rent neighborhoods were successfully self-performed.

Our Team

  • John brings 18+ years of homebuilding experience across multiple markets and multiple disciplines and has led operations on a total of 1,500 lots with Watermark, all while managing a team responsible for 14 communities with an average of 150 homes per community. Our Watermark development team manages all aspects of horizontal and vertical construction through third party partners, while overseeing expenditures, cash flow, and payroll for all construction operations.

    Before joining Watermark, John climbed the professional ladder at one of the largest national home builder companies as a Senior Builder, to Project Manager, and Division President, while being in the construction of thousands of homes in multiple markets.

  • With over 27 years of professional real estate experience as a Purchasing and Project Manager, Ken brings real world knowledge and skill to the organization. After receiving his BSBA in Real Estate/Construction Management from the University of Denver, Ken began his career in residential construction, managing the construction costs on over 2,000 homes in the Denver Metro Area.

    Ken has leveraged his experience in multiple facets of new home building throughout his career to facilitate long standing relationships with trade partners and industry professionals, which makes him an ideal leader for Rhino Residential.

  • Chuck has spent over 30 years building homes and has the skillset & knowledge base that one can only get with a three-decade career in this industry. Chuck has worked in cities across the front range from Lafayette, to Golden, to Boulder, and of course in the Denver Metro Area. His contact list is even longer than his career, partnering with trades who can perform on time and on budget.

    Chuck has experience building everything from single-family homes to multifamily, collecting high accolades along the way. His homes have been featured in numerous Parade of Homes showcases and have been the recipient of multiple Major Achievements in Merchandising Excellence (MAME) awards. We value the experience and leadership Chuck brings to Rhino Residential.

  • With an Industrial Administration Engineering Degree and six years of full-time home building experience, Xander brings energy and dexterity to the team. He has been around and involved with construction projects for as long as he can remember, and has been a part of a wide variety of building practices – from single family homes, multifamily homes, and even custom homes.

    As Project Manager, Xander will be overseeing Rhino Residentials’ first build-to-rent project and assisting with other projects along the way to ensure Rhinos’ success with minimal disruption to efficiency.

  • Scott brings 10 years of experience and knowledge in multiple facets of the construction industry. With background in everything from interior finishings, window & door servicing and installation, to business management, he will lead Rhino Residential & Watermark to success. Being heavily involved in home building for the past six years, Scott has specialized in single family home building, managing production of the homes, and post close warranty management.

    As Project Manager at Rhino Residential, Scott will oversee day-to-day operations of Rhino Residentials’ first of many build-to-rent projects.

  • With a degree in Welding Education from the University of Wyoming and years of experience as a welding contractor and industrial mechanic, Zach brings ingenuity and leadership to the team. Among other key skills, his combination of trades experience and craftsmanship will help lead Rhino to success.

    As an Assistant Project Manager and Superintendent, Zach will be assisting in managing production of Rhino Residential’s second build-to-rent project. He will coordinate production with subcontractors, ensure compliance with city official building codes, and help to keep the project running efficiently and effectively.

  • Freddy cofounded Watermark Companies, the parent company of Rhino Residential, to create and build residential communities that offer a living experience superseding anything currently in the marketplace. His investment philosophy is rooted in risk management and value creation.

    As Managing Partner, Freddy leads Watermark Companies in conjunction with Rhino Residential, manages capital structuring, and acquisitions for Watermark, where he has allocated almost a billion dollars in private equity and commercial debt. He is deeply passionate about developing team culture and advancing his teams forward.

    Prior to forming Watermark, Freddy spent time with JP Morgan Chase working in finance. He also helped launch Chicago Hope Homes in 2011, a non-profit real estate investment firm missioned to provide financial support to the underserved, inner city youth of Chicago’s West Side.
